In visual art, there are many more tastes and preferences than there are artists. Budgets are equally varied. We believe Z/Editions offers a curated selection that energizes our broad cross-section of clients while offering value that any collector can appreciate.
The artists with whom we partner offer alternative approaches to visualizing ideas that feature artistic relevance, ingenuity, and craftsmanship. Our roster includes emerging artists, mid-career and established artists, as well as several who’ve had illustrious careers featuring international fair participation, biennale selections, and museum acquisitions. Z/Editions also works closely with a few artist estates to ensure that the limited editions issued on their behalf continue to find loving homes.
Z/Editions’ signature editions are produced in-studio via collaboration with the artists. They feature alternative materials and treatments, including hybrid work featuring combinations of paint, drawing, mark making and digital details. We have recently created two sizes of handmade substrates in heavyweight 100% cotton. Both are acid-free with non-animal sizing, deckled edging, and no artificial brighteners. This ultra-premium paper will soon be available in the signature series of carefully selected artists.
Z/Editions offers affordable open and limited editions printed on durable acid-free materials with archival inks to ensure they maintain their vibrancy and visual appeal for decades to come. Open- and limited-edition prints are shipped from facilities in the USA, the United Kingdom, and South America to avoid importation costs, delays, and any potential third-party profiteering caused by geopolitical disruptions or anti-trade tariffs.
By producing and shipping from within the country of destination, concerns and doubts about tariffs are eliminated. All deliveries are made promptly and safely at the lowest possible cost to the buyer.

Z/Editions is a technology services company dedicated to the visual arts community. With over seventy-five combined years in the field, we collaborate with visual artists and galleries to bring their original artworks to a broader audience through the production of physical or digital editions while helping them introduce their work to the art industry and the public.
Among our services beyond the art printing you see on this website, we offer digitalization services, large-format scanning, mounting assistance, and alternative printing options, where the artists are invited into our studios and collaborate on every facet of the creative process. These Signature editions include custom hand-finished substrates made by the artists themselves, as well as alternative coatings, color washes, and mark makers. Layers of printed digital elements are often added, thereby creating multiple hybrid originals, each of which is unique. Signature editions are generally not sold through this Z/Editions site. For more information, use the contact form on this site, and we will put you in touch with persons who can help you acquire these goods or services through Ardstrum, Altsur, and other partners.
At Z/Editions, open and limited print editions are available according to the artists’ intentions and participation. The specific dimensions for each work can be found on the individual item pages. Limited- and open-editions are usually slightly smaller than the signature editions from which they are produced. Open editions are the most cost-effective. Limited Editions have increased collectability value as they are signed by the respective artists, include certificates of authenticity, and the artists has been intimately involved in their production.
Shipping: Smaller works such as drawings, photographs, and watercolors can be purchased framed or unframed. In all cases, the shipping costs are included or noted during checkout. Please check carefully before placing your order.
Large works are shipped unframed in most cases. One of the perils of selling art internationally are the high costs of shipping and insurance, especially since some countries add those costs into the price before calculating the percentages of applicable taxes and import duties to be paid by the receiver/buyer.
Works that are less than about three feet square are generally not egregiously expensive to ship to most destinations. For larger works, we strongly recommend purchasing the piece(s) unframed since the additional costs of shipping, handling, and import fees will most definitely dwarf the cost of having a trusted local framer add an appropriate contemporary stretcher or frame.
Duties/Taxes/Tariffs: Normally, customs duties and taxes, as well as any tariffs in effect at the time of importation, are the responsibility of the importer.
However, to avoid these harmful charges, North American orders for all of our open and limited editions are fulfilled from the United States and Canada; therefore, no tariff charges or customs duties and taxes apply since the artworks are not being imported. Likewise, In the United Kingdom, only normal UK taxes are applied. Due to taxation concerns and tariff uncertainty, we are currently not able to ship to mainland Europe until such time as we can be assured that our customers will not be overcharged.
Only rarely does Z/Editions sell signature-edition works through this website due to their uniqueness and the involvement of international artists with studios worldwide. These series are clearly identified, and any repercussions regarding importation are clearly stated on the artwork pages.
Note: The foreign trade markets are very volatile, and given the disruptions in shipping due to several concerns that are out of our control, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns before placing your orders.
Available payment methods include bank transfers, PayPal, and credit/debit card payments through secured servers. We do not collect or store any of your financial information on our servers or computers. Payments are managed solely by the respective payment gateways and banks.
